Best Time to Visit
Spring (Mar-May)
The ideal season for most of Pakistan. Northern valleys burst into bloom with cherry and apricot blossoms, temperatures are mild (15-25°C in Islamabad, cooler in the mountains), and skies are generally clear. The Karakoram Highway typically reopens in April. Perfect for trekking, photography, and cultural exploration.
Autumn (Sep-Nov)
The golden season — arguably even better than spring. Clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and spectacular autumn colors paint the Hunza Valley in shades of gold and crimson. The harvest season brings fresh apricots, walnuts, and apples. October-November offers the most reliable weather for mountain views and high-altitude trekking.
Summer (Jun-Aug)
Best for high mountain adventures and the Karakoram Highway. While the southern plains (Lahore, Islamabad) can be hot (35-45°C), the northern mountains are in their prime with lush green valleys, open passes, and ideal trekking conditions. This is the best window for Fairy Meadows, Hunza trekking, and crossing the Khunjerab Pass into China.
Winter (Dec-Feb)
Cold in the north with snow closing the Karakoram Highway and most trekking routes. Temperatures can drop to -20°C in the mountains. However, Lahore and the southern cities are pleasant (5-15°C) — perfect for exploring Mughal architecture, museums, and enjoying hearty Pakistani cuisine with far fewer tourists around.
